Rural Voice Dialogue on “Sahakar se Samriddhi: Many pathways”

Rural Voice is presenting in association with Sahakar Bharati a Rural Voice Dialogue on “Sahakar se Samriddhi: Many pathways” at the India International Centre in New Delhi on June 15. Rural Voice is a digital platform primarily focused on the agriculture and rural sectors. Sahakar Bharati is a social organization working in the field of cooperatives. The Dialogue will have three sessions.

Rural Voice Dialogue on “Sahakar se Samriddhi: Many pathways”

The government aims to achieve overall prosperity in the country through the mantra of Sahakar Se Samriddhi (Prosperity Through Cooperation). A new Ministry of Cooperation has been formed with Amit Shah at its helm. It is being proposed to strengthen cooperatives by bringing transparency and modernization and creating competitiveness.

In order to achieve this, the government is formulating a new National Cooperation Policy, for which it has started consultations with various stakeholders including various ministries/departments of the central government, state governments, cooperative federations, NABARD and other major cooperative institutions of the country.

The first session will be held on “Strengthening cooperatives for better income realization”. The participants for this session are T Nanda Kumar, former Secretary, Ministry of Food and Agriculture; Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, former Chairman, NABARD; Jayen Mehta, COO, GCMMF, Amul; Ajay Vir Jakhar, Chairman, Bharat Krishak Samaj; and Uday Joshi, National General Secretary, Sahakar Bharati.

The topic for the second session is “Global experience in cooperation: How India can benefit”. The participants include Dr Chandrapal Singh, President, International Cooperative Alliance, Asia-Pacific (ICA-AP) and Chairman, Kribhco;  Dileep Sanghani, President, NCUI and Chairman, IFFCO; Konda Reddy Chavva, Assistant FAOR, FAO; Balu Iyer, CEO, ICA-AP; and Satish Marathe, Director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The third session will discuss the “Way forward to make cooperatives relevant”. Its participants are Siraj Hussain, former Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture; Dr Neelam Patel, Senior Advisor (Agriculture & Allied Sectors), NITI Aayog; Prakash Nalknavare, MD, NFCSF Ltd; and DN Thakur, President, Sahakar Bharati.
