Harish Rawat, former Chief Minister (CM) and party campaign head in the state, is trailing in the Lalkuan seat. BJP candidate Mohan Singh Bisht is ahead by over 7,000 votes. However, daughter Anupama Rawat is leading from the Haridwar Rural Assembly seat

Says Union minister and state in-charge Pralhad Joshi in Dehradun, “Under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, we gave welfare policies to the people of Uttarakhand and have got expected results.”

Prominent candidates who contested the polls are chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, his cabinet colleagues Satpal Maharaj, Bansidhar Bhagat, Subodh Uniyal, Arvind Pandey, Dhan Singh Rawat and Rekha Arya, besides state BJP president Madan Kaushik.

Says BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, “We already knew that we’ll form the government as PM Modi fulfilled all the promises he made to the people of Uttarakhand and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, too, resolved issues of the people in the last six months.”

However, Dhami has a tough fight in his own constituency.
