Government Extends Minimum Import Price on Glufosinate Till April 2027

India has extended the minimum import price condition on glufosinate and its salts until April 12, 2027. Imports valued below Rs 1,154 per kg, including applicable anti-dumping duty, remain restricted, while other regulatory and registration requirements continue to apply.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has extended the Minimum Import Price (MIP) condition on imports of glufosinate and its salts until April 12, 2027, continuing a measure aimed at regulating imports and protecting the domestic agrochemical industry from low-priced overseas supplies.
According to Notification No. 43/2026-27, issued on October 12, 2026, the extension retains the terms and conditions introduced through Notification No. 10/2026-27 on April 13, 2026. The latest notification was issued by DGFT under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with the approval of the Minister of Commerce and Industry.
Under the policy, imports of glufosinate and its salts are classified as “Restricted” if their combined Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value and applicable anti-dumping duty fall below Rs 1,154 per kg. Imports priced at or above this threshold remain under the “Free” category, subject to compliance with other applicable statutory requirements.
Importers must also comply with existing regulatory requirements, including obtaining valid registration certificates from the Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIB&RC), under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Products prohibited under the Insecticides Act, 1968, cannot be imported under the provision.
Glufosinate is a broad-spectrum herbicide used for weed control in agriculture. The continuation of the minimum price requirement is intended to regulate imports and support a more competitive domestic market by restricting supplies priced below the prescribed threshold.
