IFFCO Managing Director Dr. Uday Shankar Awasthi has given this information through a tweet, "IFFCO’s Nano Technology based innovations are making a mark on the agriculture sector. Glad to share that IFFCO’s innovations IFFCO Nano Zinc (Liquid) and IFFCO Nano Copper (Liquid) have been notified by the Government of India for 3 years. FCO approval has been granted for both products. These new Nano formulations will help ameliorate zinc and copper deficiencies in crops, increase crop yield & quality and address the issue of malnutrition. I congratulate the IFFCO team for this achievement that will pave the way for farmers' prosperity and agriculture sustainability."
Zinc is a crucial micronutrient for the enzyme functioning in plants and it is very important for plant growth and development. Zinc deficiency in plants is one of the major concerns globally. Similarly, Copper is required for many enzymatic activities in plants and chlorophyll and seed production. Deficiency of Copper can lead to increased susceptibility to diseases.
After this notification, now five liquid fertilizer products of IFFCO based on nanotechnology will be available to the farmers. After IFFCO Nano Urea, Nano DAP, IFFCO's liquid fertilizer IFFCO Nano Urea Plus was notified by the government and now IFFCO Nano Zinc (Liquid) and IFFCO Nano Copper (Liquid) have been notified for three years.
