An online meeting of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) Coordination Committee and the Drafting Committee was held today. It was decided to conduct large Farmers’ Marches to the Raj Bhavans on 26 November 2022 to mark two years of the historic SKM-led farmers’ movement. This was stated in an SKM press release today.
Farmer leaders said that preparations were on in various states for the Raj Bhavan marches and farmer organizations were holding preparation meetings in all states.
A meeting of all SKM constituents will be organized in Delhi on November 14 to give the final shape to the Raj Bhavan march preparations. The issues to be listed in the memorandum to the Governor will also be finalized in the meeting.
In this meeting on 14 November, the SKM will also finalize its Guidelines, on which discussion is going on among members of the Coordination Committee and Drafting Committee.
The SKM meeting held today condemned the changes being made by the Central Government in the rules of the Forest Conservation Act. The SKM decided to extend solidarity on 15 November, Martyr Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary, with the Adivasi organizations who are fighting for their rights.
The meeting condoled the death of Kisan leader Paramjeet Singh, who made a big contribution to the farmers’ movement that lasted for 380 days.
Today’s meeting was attended by Hannan Mollah, Dr Darshan Pal, Yudhvir Singh, Medha Patkar, Rajaram Singh, Atul Kumar Anjan, Satyavan, Dr Ashok Dhawale, Avik Saha, Sukhdev Singh, Raminder Singh, Vikas Shishir and Dr Sunilam.
