Rajasthan Signs MoU With Wadhwani AI to Promote AI-Based Agricultural Services

The Rajasthan government's Agriculture Department has signed a non-financial MoU with LEHS-Wadhwani AI Foundation to promote AI-driven agricultural solutions in the state. The partnership will introduce multilingual chatbots, pest surveillance systems, soybean quality analyzers, and digital monitoring tools to strengthen agricultural services and improve transparency for farmers.

In a major step towards promoting modern technology in agriculture, the Agriculture Department of the Government of Rajasthan on Monday signed an important non-financial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lords Education and Health Society (LEHS-Wadhwani AI Foundation).

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal said the state government is undertaking several major innovations in the agriculture sector. He said the MoU would play a crucial role in establishing AI-based models and Centres of Excellence in line with the state budget announcement for 2026-27.

According to an official statement, under the partnership, Wadhwani AI will work as the state government’s technical partner, free of cost, for the next three years. The collaboration aims to strengthen the field-level information system and improve the delivery of agricultural services to farmers.

Rajasthan Among Leading States in Agri-Stack

The Agriculture Commissioner said Rajasthan has emerged as one of the leading states under the Agri-Stack initiative by achieving 95 percent of its target. Around 9.5 million farmers in the state have already been issued digital Farmer IDs.

He said the Farmer ID is not just a number but a comprehensive digital identity that includes details such as land records, khasra numbers, and Aadhaar-linked credentials. The system is expected to improve transparency in schemes such as crop insurance and integrated fertilizer management, including urea distribution, while preventing misuse.

Four Major AI Solutions for Agriculture

Under the partnership, four major AI-based agriculture solutions will be introduced to support farmers and agricultural administration.

Agrivani

Agrivani will function as a multilingual chatbot that allows farmers to interact through voice or text in their local language. The AI-powered platform will provide quick technical solutions to farmers’ problems.

CropS: Pest and Disease Surveillance

This computer vision-based system will help identify crop pests and diseases. Farmers will be able to upload images of affected crops and receive expert-verified treatment advice, reducing the risk of crop losses.

Soybean Grain Analyzer

Through this smartphone-based application, farmers will be able to assess the quality, grading, and protein levels of their soybean produce in real time before taking it to the market. The tool is expected to help farmers secure better prices for their produce.

Agri AI Collect and News Monitoring

This tool will digitally record farmers’ field activities and assist the administration in continuously monitoring agriculture-related developments and news, enabling faster decision-making.
