Tractor sales up 14.69 percent in August, Mahindra and John Deere sees growth

Retail tractor sales increased by 14.69 percent in September, with 62,542 units sold compared to 54,529 units in the same month last year. Tractor companies like Mahindra, Swaraj, and John Deere reported increased sales, although sales dropped compared to the previous month of August

In September 2024, retail tractor sales saw a growth of 14.69 percent. 62,542 tractors were sold across the country, compared to 54,529 units sold in September 2023. Tractor companies like Mahindra, Swaraj, and John Deere reported increased sales, although sales dropped compared to the previous month of August when 65,478 tractors were sold. Over the last few years, tractor sales have decreased due to weaker monsoons, but sales have slightly recovered this year due to normal monsoon conditions. Companies expect a further boost in sales during the upcoming festive season.

According to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Mahindra & Mahindra's sales rose by 17.12 percent in September 2024, selling 14,762 units compared to 12,604 in the previous year. Mahindra's Swaraj division saw an 11.67 percent growth, with 11,011 units sold in September compared to 9,860 last year. Sonalika Tractors (International Tractors Limited) also experienced a 14.94 percent increase, selling 8,116 tractors in September compared to 7,061 in September 2023.

John Deere saw a significant growth of 28.29 percent, selling 4,843 tractors in September 2024, up from 3,775 the previous year. CNH Industrial India sales also increased, selling 2,525 tractors compared to 1,901 in the same month last year.

Other companies such as TAFE Limited, Escorts Kubota, Eicher Tractors, and Kubota Agricultural Machinery also saw improvements. TAFE sold 7,285 tractors in September 2024, up from 6,869 in the previous year. Escorts Kubota sold 6,313 units, slightly up from 5,832 tractors sold last year. Eicher sold 3,804 tractors, while Kubota sold 1,201 units, an increase from 919 tractors sold in 2023. 

In addition, other tractor manufacturers recorded a total sale of 2,682 units in September 2024, compared to 1,963 units in September 2023.
