Bharat Taxi (Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited), a cooperative-led ride-hailing platform, has started its soft launch operations in Delhi from November 10, in collaboration with the Delhi Traffic Police. The service has begun from key transit locations including the airport, Inter-State Bus Terminals (ISBTs), and major railway stations.
As part of the pilot phase, dedicated booking booths have been set up to help passengers book rides, access travel information, and receive assistance from Bharat Taxi representatives. The company said the soft launch will help evaluate service quality and gather commuter feedback before scaling up operations.
Bharat Taxi has partnered with the Delhi Traffic Police to digitize prepaid booth operations by connecting all Sarathis (drivers) through a secure mobile platform. The move aims to bring greater transparency, ensure safety, and improve the earnings of drivers. Traditional ‘Black and Yellow’ taxi operators will also benefit from features like return fare booking, addressing long-standing issues of empty return trips from locations such as Gurgaon.
A joint Command and Control Centre, managed by Bharat Taxi and the Delhi Traffic Police, has been established to monitor operations in real time. All Sarathis are Delhi Police-verified and professionally trained to ensure commuter safety and service reliability.
Bharat Taxi is promoted by major cooperative and financial institutions including NCDC, IFFCO, GCMMF (Amul), KRIBHCO, NAFED, NABARD, NDDB and NCEL. Operating under the national vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi”, the initiative aims to build a people-owned, technology-driven transport model aligned with the government’s Digital India programme.
With its cooperative framework and digital infrastructure, Bharat Taxi seeks to provide passengers with safe, affordable, and transparent mobility options, while ensuring fair income and social security for its driver members.
