The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) reported a net profit of Rs 423.14 crore on a turnover of Rs 29,884.72 crore in 2025-26, while announcing a series of initiatives to expand farmer services, retail operations and market access.
The figures were presented at NAFED’s 69th Annual General Body Meeting held in New Delhi, on September 26, attended by more than 700 delegates representing member societies and state federations.
NAFED Chairman Jethabhai Ahir highlighted the federation’s role in implementing components of the government’s PM-AASHA scheme, including the Price Support Scheme (PSS), Price Stabilisation Fund (PSF), Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS) and Price Payment to Support Scheme (PPSS).
The federation plans to establish 50 additional retail stores through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), cooperative societies and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). It is also expanding the distribution of NAFED products through Indian Railways, including premix tea, biscuits and juice.
The federation announced a 15% dividend for member federations and societies. It has also revived 500 fisheries cooperative societies and facilitated the formation of 50 Fish FPOs, benefiting more than 50,000 farmers, according to the release.
Focus on financial sustainability and exports
NAFED Managing Director Deepak Agarwal, IAS, said the federation is pursuing retail expansion, property monetisation and exports to strengthen financial sustainability. NAFED products are being taken to overseas markets, including the UAE and Canada.
The federation is also expanding its institutional market. Bharat Rice is set to be launched for the Indian Army, while NAFED products are being empanelled with CSD canteens. The federation will also supply FMCG products through train breakfast services.
Under the government’s FPO promotion programme, NAFED is currently handholding 1,274 FPOs. It has also received hiring assurances for 345 godowns under the Bhandaran Yojana.
Digital systems expanded
NAFED has expanded digital operations through e-Samriddhi, ERP, NAFEX.in and DRISHTI. e-Samriddhi now includes Aadhaar-seeded direct benefit transfer and biometric farmer registration. Its integration with NCCF’s e-Samyukti provides a unified platform for farmer registration and produce sales under PM-AASHA.
NAFEX.in, NAFED’s e-auction platform, will also be offered to other organisations on a commission basis. The federation said its Kalyan Scholarship Scheme will allocate 1% of NAFED’s net profit for scholarships of up to Rs 1 lakh per student for children of farmers registered on e-Samriddhi.
