The 4th National Spice Conference 2025 was organized by the World Spice Organisation (WSO) in partnership with the All India Spices Exporters Forum (AISEF), in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Centered on the theme “Spice Route Ahead – Safe, Sustainable and Scalable,” the two-day event brought together leaders from farming communities, agri-tech firms, exporters, regulators and global spice companies. Discussions focused on strengthening food safety, boosting sustainability, and scaling innovation to secure India’s leadership in the global spice trade.
WSO Chairman Ramkumar Menon, in his welcome address, called this a defining moment for India’s spice sector. He noted that while global demand is rising, the industry’s future depends on how effectively it integrates safety, sustainability and scalability. Building capacity and maintaining stringent food safety standards, he said, will be key to preserving India’s competitive advantage.
Dr Paresh Shah, Chairman of the FSSAI Scientific Panel on Pesticide Residues, highlighted the critical importance of supply-chain integrity. He emphasized that “food safety must guide every step from farm to fork,” ensuring trust, transparency and traceability across the system.

Spices Board Director Dr A. B. Remashree spoke about the power of technology to transform farmer livelihoods. He urged that technology adoption move beyond prototypes to field-level application, helping farmers share in the value created along the spice chain.
Panel sessions covered topics from food safety management and innovative AgriTech solutions to inclusive growth through farmer-producer organizations (FPOs). A buyer–seller interface was also launched to strengthen linkages between producers, processors and exporters, paving the way for stronger market partnerships.
Since its founding in 2011, the World Spice Organisation has worked to elevate food safety, sustainability and value-chain efficiency through collaboration with the Spices Board, research bodies and international alliances. Its ongoing initiatives continue to enhance quality and reinforce India’s reputation in the global spice trade.
