The Haryana Agriculture Department has fixed the sale prices for certified wheat seeds for the upcoming Rabi season 2024-25. According to directives issued by the department’s director, the state government has implemented a subsidy scheme to make high-quality seeds available to farmers at affordable prices. Farmers will be given a subsidy of Rs 1000 per quintal.

Haryana’s Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana, said that the state government is committed to providing financial support to farmers and ensuring the availability of high-quality seeds. This initiative aims to boost crop production and improve agricultural outcomes in the upcoming season. He added that this decision will not only make high-quality seeds available to farmers at subsidised rates, but will also enhance their income by increasing their crop yield.

Subsidy Details on Wheat Seeds
According to an official press release, the standard sale price for all types of wheat seeds has been set at ₹3,875 per quintal. However, to ease the financial burden on farmers, the government will provide a subsidy of ₹1,000 per quintal, reducing the effective seed price to ₹2,875 per quintal. The subsidy will exclude the C-306 variety and varieties older than ten years from the date of notification.

Benefits Exclusive to Haryana Farmers
Certified wheat seeds will be provided in pre-packaged 40 kg bags at subsidised rates, allowing farmers to easily purchase high-quality seeds for the Rabi season. This subsidy will be exclusively available to farmers in Haryana. Seeds used by government agencies, farmer producer organisations (FPOs), or for demonstration purposes under any scheme will not be eligible for this subsidy. The department has also clarified that seeds used in promotional activities or other government programs will not receive any subsidy.

To ensure transparency, the department has instructed that all transactions be meticulously recorded in the sales register at distribution centers to avoid any future disputes. Officials have been directed to inform all relevant staff of these instructions to ensure smooth distribution.
