Madhya Pradesh Approves Rs 2,973 Crore for Dairy Development, Rs 29,619 Crore for Rural Employment

A meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, took several important decisions related to milk producers, rural employment and farmers. The Cabinet approved a Rs 2,973-crore dairy development plan aimed at strengthening the cooperative dairy system and upgrading the Sanchi brand. It also approved a financial proposal of Rs 29,619 crore for the implementation of the ‘VB-G RAM-G Scheme’. The meeting also approved a decision to increase the procurement of moong from registered farmers.

Cooperative Dairy Network to Reach 26,000 Villages in Five Years

Under the Dairy Development Scheme, cooperative milk societies will be expanded from 7,331 villages to 26,000 villages over the next five years. The government aims to increase milk collection from the current 1.2 million kg per day to 5.2 million kg per day. Similarly, milk processing capacity is targeted to increase from 1.78 million litres to 6.33 million litres per day, while packaged milk sales are expected to rise from 700,000 litres to 3.5 million litres per day.

To improve livestock productivity, artificial insemination coverage will also be increased from 15 percent to 50 percent. Under the scheme, the state government will provide a grant of Rs 500 crore for infrastructure. An estimated state share of Rs 241 crore, in line with central government schemes, has also been approved. The National Dairy Development Board has given in-principle approval to the Rs 2,973-crore dairy development plan.

Rural Employment Guarantee Increased to 125 Days

The Cabinet approved the implementation of the ‘Viksit Bharat–Rozgar and Aajeevika Ke Liye Guarantee Mission (Gramin): VB-G RAM-G Scheme, Madhya Pradesh’ from July 1, 2026. Under the scheme, willing adult members of rural households will now be legally guaranteed 125 days of wage employment in each financial year.

The estimated cost of the scheme for 2026-27 is Rs 3,183 crore, while the total estimated cost for its continuation from 2026-27 to 2030-31 is Rs 26,436 crore. The Centre and state will share the expenditure in a 60:40 ratio. Over five years, the state’s share will amount to Rs 10,574 crore, while Rs 946 crore will be spent on administrative expenses.

Under the scheme, gram panchayats will prepare ‘Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans’ using GIS, PM Gati Shakti layers and digital public infrastructure. Biometric attendance, digital muster rolls and social audits every six months will be mandatory to ensure transparency. An ombudsman will be appointed in every district for speedy resolution of complaints.

Procurement of Up to 60 Percent of Moong Crop

The Cabinet also approved the Chief Minister’s decision to procure up to 60 percent of the moong crop from registered farmers. Earlier, under the Price Support Scheme, procurement from registered farmers was limited to a maximum of 25 percent of their produce. The procurement limit has now been increased to 60 percent for summer-grown moong. Procurement of moong and urad has been underway since July 1, 2026.
