The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has decided to increase sugarcane prices by ₹30. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has provided significant relief to sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh by increasing the State Advisory Price (SAP) of sugarcane by ₹30 per quintal.
According to the decision, for the 2025-26 crushing season, the price of early variety sugarcane has been increased from ₹370 to ₹400 per quintal, and the price of normal variety sugarcane has been increased from ₹360 to ₹390 per quintal.
State Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Minister Laxminarayan Chaudhary announced the government's decision to increase sugarcane prices by ₹30. This decision is being seen as a major relief for sugarcane farmers.
Sugarcane prices in Uttar Pradesh have remained stuck at ₹370 for two years, while cultivation costs are continuously rising. This ₹30 increase in sugarcane prices, or approximately 8%, will financially benefit approximately 4.5 million farmer families in the state.
Although farmers' organizations have been demanding sugarcane prices exceed 400 rupees since last year, the increase of 30 rupees is considered significant. Dharmendra Malik, national spokesperson of the BKU (Arajnaitik), welcomed the Yogi government's decision, calling it a correct decision in the interest of sugarcane farmers.
