Global agricultural machinery major John Deere has unveiled its 5M Series 130 HP tractor, aimed at strengthening precision farming and improving farm productivity in India. The launch highlights the company’s focus on integrating advanced technologies and digital solutions to support sustainable agriculture and efficient farm operations.

Over the past 27 years in India, John Deere has introduced a range of technologically advanced solutions designed to improve farm productivity while promoting soil health, water conservation and environmental sustainability- key pillars of sustainable farming.
According to Rajesh Sinha, Managing Director and Country Manager of John Deere India and Strategic Advisor to the President of Construction & Forestry Worldwide, the company’s strategy focuses on integrating precision agriculture and digital technologies to enable farmers to produce more with fewer resources.

He said the latest technologies are designed to optimise field operations, reduce input costs and provide precise crop care solutions while ensuring sustainability of soil and the environment. Sinha also highlighted that John Deere’s presence in India plays a significant role in the company’s global operations, spanning research and development, engineering, global IT, supply chain, road construction, manufacturing and talent development.
Speaking about the technology advancements, Ramakant Garg, Sales and Marketing Director for India, said that evolving agronomy practices require the integration of advanced farm technologies.
He said the company’s Power and Technology 7.0 initiative is aimed at enabling futuristic agricultural practices. Some of the key technologies introduced include Front Hitch and Front PTO application on the 5130M (130 HP) tractor, the 5E AutoTrac™ straight-row vehicle guidance system, GreenSystem™ Link factory-fitted connectivity solution, and 100% radial tyres on the 5405 and 5075E tractors.
Garg noted that John Deere has consistently led the Indian market with technologically advanced products and continues to introduce innovations that align with modern farming needs.
The company emphasised that adapting innovations to local farming conditions has been central to its success in India. This approach has enabled John Deere to support diverse agricultural practices across the country while also exporting products to over 110 countries worldwide.
Meanwhile, Mukul Varshney, Region 1 Government Affairs Director, said the company’s initiatives align with the government’s sustainability goals for 2047. He added that collaboration with stakeholders such as academia, research institutions and industry will play an important role in strengthening agricultural innovation and making Indian farmers globally competitive.
