HyFun Foods Partners with UK-Based HarvestEye to Digitally Transform Potato Farming in India

In a major step toward revolutionizing potato farming in India, HyFun Foods, the country’s leading frozen potato products company, has announced a strategic partnership with UK-based crop insights firm HarvestEye. The collaboration aims to leverage advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to enhance farm productivity, efficiency, and profitability.

The partnership will introduce cutting-edge AI-driven vision systems that provide real-time insights into crop size, yield, and quality. This technology will integrate with HyFun’s agribusiness arm, HyFarm, and its digital farmer-connect platform, Farmoji.

“This strategic collaboration aligns with our vision of revolutionizing the fresh-produce linked food industry by bringing state-of-the-art advancements to potato farming through HyFarm,” said Haresh Karamchandani, MD & Group CEO of HyFun Group.

Through this initiative, farmers will gain access to data-driven insights that optimize their produce, ensuring better quality potatoes for processing. The advanced system will help in minimizing crop losses while boosting efficiency in the value chain.

A Game-Changer for Indian Potato Farmers
HyFarm has been at the forefront of using precision agriculture tools, and the integration of HarvestEye is expected to further strengthen this approach. The collaboration will enhance transparency and ensure that farmers receive better value for their crops.

“HyFarm has always taken the lead in creating benchmarks in the potato industry. The introduction of HarvestEye in India will be a game-changer for our potato farmers by ensuring transparency, sustaining quality supplies, while enhancing productivity and profitability,” said S. Soundararadjane, CEO of HyFarm.

HarvestEye’s AI-powered vision systems will provide farmers with accurate, real-time data on their harvested produce. This ensures a more efficient supply chain, reducing production losses and improving sustainability.

Strengthening India’s Potato Processing Industry
For India’s rapidly growing potato processing industry, this partnership will provide a consistent supply of high-quality potatoes, enhancing efficiencies and ensuring sustainability. The move aligns with India’s position as the second-largest producer of potatoes globally.

Vee Gururajan, CEO of HarvestEye, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “We take immense pride in partnering with one of the pioneers in the processing industry. Our technology delivers accurate, real-time information on harvested potatoes, enabling farmers to make informed decisions that maximize yields and quality. With this joining of hands, we are extending the benefits of innovation to key markets, transforming potato farming and driving efficient food processing.”

HyFun Foods, through HyFarm, plans to collaborate with 30,000 farmers and procure one million metric tonnes of potatoes by 2028. The company, known for its “Seed-to-Shelf” model, is also expanding its reach into procuring other fresh fruits and vegetables.

As India’s agricultural landscape continues to evolve, this partnership marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of potato farming, promising a more resilient, efficient, and farmer-friendly ecosystem.
