In an effort to help farmers with access to information and grow their business, Pankaj Tripathi-backed agritech platform Krishi Network has recently announced that it has added six new languages — Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi and Kannada — to its platform. The expansion of the regional capabilities of the platform will help the company reduce the access barriers to information accessibility and expand its reach to Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. With this addition, Krishi Network now offers eight languages on its app.

With a user base of 35 lakh farmers, Krishi Network provides a mix of online and offline support to farmers and agri-businesses across the country. From online consultancies to offline support, the platform will utilise a mix of translation and transliteration of the languages on the platform to provide farmers with a native language experience.

Farmers will now be able to use the application in their native language, making information accessibility a seamless experience. This initiative is in line with the company’s vision of expanding its ground presence with farmers and enabling them to generate higher profits from their land.

Commenting on the announcement, Ashish Mishra, Founder and CEO, Krishi Network, said, “When we started with Krishi Network, we realised that language was always a huge hindrance for farmers to adopt technological innovations. We were always motivated to create solutions for the masses and the response from farmers has been exceptional. This language addition will further ensure that millions of vernacular-speaking farmers can get easy access to information and have a frictionless experience.”

Since its inception in 2019, Krishi Network has helped farmers use technological innovations to extract higher long-term value. The company uses a mix of AI/ML algorithms and distributed expert panels to help farmers upskill their knowledge and provide instant answers to their queries in less than 15 minutes.

Last month, Krishi Network also launched a subscription-based product called Krishi Plus to offer technical support to farmers with the additional benefit of two farm visits per month at a very nominal price of Rs 801 for three months.

The company also recently acquired Rocket Skills, an edtech platform, to help the farmers aspiring to start a business with access to enhanced online mentorship and organized online courses.
