BJP to release UP elections manifesto tomorrow

Lucknow, Feb 4

Ahead of the crucial 2022 Uttar Pradesh (UP) Assembly elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will release its poll manifesto for the state on Feb 5.

The manifesto, which the party calls ‘Sankalp Patra’ (pledge document), will seek to woo the more than 150 million registered voters in UP, which has the country’s highest assembly constituencies numbering 403.

The UP Assembly elections will be held in seven rounds on Feb 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7.

According to the party sources, the manifesto would focus majorly on farmers, youth and women although it would target all the sections of society.

The manifesto will be released in the presence of BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, party’s UP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and UP BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh.

Interestingly, the release of the official BJP manifesto would come a day after Adityanath filed his nomination papers for the UP Assembly polls from Gorakhpur (Urban) constituency.

He is looking to debut as a member of the state legislative assembly. Currently, the CM is a member of the legislative council or the Upper House.

Meanwhile, the manifesto would reiterate the saffron party’s commitment to doubling the farmers’ income and offering more sops to boost the rural economy.

At the same time, the document would address women’s issues related to employment, security and dignity with fresh announcements and populist schemes.

Interestingly, different parties are seeking to proactively cater to the needs of women, especially after Congress general secretary in charge of UP, Priyanka Gandhi, issued the party’s pink manifesto focusing big time on women.

The BJP manifesto is likely to emphasize youth and employment generation, especially in comparatively socio-economically backward Purvanchal and Bundelkhand regions.

At the same time, the BJP manifesto would touch upon the vital issue of law and order, which is key to ensuring economic development and attracting private investment in different sectors.

The saffron party would also mention cultural nationalism and religious tourism in the state.
