Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday sharpened his attack on the Congress, saying it is difficult to follow one's faith under the party and again accused it of hatching a deep conspiracy to snatch people's wealth and distribute it among "select" people.

Reffering to the 'redistribution of wealth' remarks made by him at a rally in Rajasthan's Banswara on Sunday, the prime minister said it has angered the Congress and INDI Alliance so much that they have started "abusing" Modi everywhere. "I have put forth the truth before the country that Congress is hatching a deep conspiracy to snatch your wealth and distribute it among the 'select' people," he said at a rally in Tonk.
"Two-three days ago, I exposed this vote bank politics of Congress as appeasement politics; this has angered Congress and its INDI Alliance so much that they have started abusing Modi everywhere," he said while asking "why the Congress is scared of the truth and hiding its policies". "It is written in their manifesto that they will survey the wealth. Their leader had said in a speech that X-ray of wealth will be done," he said, adding, "When Modi exposed the secret, your hidden agenda came out and you are trembling".
The prime minister also charged that it is difficult to follow one's faith under Congress rule. "Even listening to Hanuman Chalisa becomes crime under Congress rule," he said. His remarks came on a day when the country is celebrating Hanuman Jayanti. 

BJP will stop TMC's corruption and cut money culture: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the TMC-led West Bengal government over the issues of corruption and infiltration, and asserted that only the BJP can end the misrule of the Trinamool Congress in the state.

Addressing a rally at Karandighi in Raiganj constituency in West Bengal, Shah said the party has set a target of winning 35 Lok Sabha seats from West Bengal. "The Calcutta High Court yesterday gave a judgment cancelling thousands of appointments (made through the 2016 teacher recruitment test). It is a matter of shame that jobs were sold for lakhs of rupees. This cut-money culture and corruption must end in West Bengal. The TMC can never stop it, only the BJP can stop it," he said.

Hitting out at the Congress over remarks by its leaders that the CAA would be repealed if they are voted to power, Shah said, "Neither Congress nor Mamata Banerjee can dare to touch the CAA." The Congress and Mamata Banerjee are against the CAA as they want to help the infiltrators, he alleged. "They are opposing the law since it will help Hindu refugees get citizenship," the senior BJP leader said.

The Centre last month implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, notifying the rules four years after the law was passed by Parliament to fast-track citizenship for undocumented non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014.

Referring to the recent incidents in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders have emerged, Shah said it is a matter of shame that "Mamata Banerjee, despite being a woman chief minister, tried to protect the culprits." "For years, atrocities continued right under your (Mamata Banerjee) nose. To get some votes through appeasement, you are protecting the criminals of Sandeshkhali," he claimed.

Trends of election results are visible in BJP leaders' speeches: Akhilesh Yadav

In an obvious reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in which he said the Congress wants to redistribute people's property, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said the trends of election results are visible from the BJP leaders' speeches.

Addressing a rally in support of the INDIA bloc candidates of Aligarh and Hathras, Yadav said if the INDIA bloc government is formed after the elections, the poor will not only get the ration they are currently getting but will also be given nutritious food items.

"Although the election trends come later but now you must have heard the speech of the people of Delhi (PM) and the people of Lucknow (CM). The trends of the election results are visible in the speeches of those who are about to go out of power," he said.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said the "BJP's position has worsened in the recently held first phase of the Lok Sabha elections". "The things that are coming and are being imposed on others are actually their (BJP's) 'mann ki baat' (in their mind). We want to tell them (BJP) that now the time has come to talk about the Constitution," he added.

The Samajwadi Party chief said whether it is Uttar Pradesh or the country, discussion about INDIA bloc has started. "The wind that has blown from the west (western UP) has announced the BJP is going to be wiped out this time. I request the people of Aligarh that together we can lock the BJP's plans of spreading hatred forever. One has to be very careful with people in the BJP," Yadav said.

Mayawati promises to work for separate state comprising districts of western UP

BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday promised to work for a separate state comprising districts of western Uttar Pradesh and fulfil the "longstanding demand" of setting up a bench of the Allahabad High Court in Meerut, if voted to power at the Centre.

Addressing an election rally in support of her party nominee from the Meerut Lok Sabha seat, the BSP chief attacked the Congress and BJP and also targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) on the issue of reservation, alleging the SP does not want the people belonging to SC/ST communities to get quota benefits. She also said that her party, if voted to power, will work to fulfil the demands and address problems of the region.

Referring to how her government in Uttar Pradesh had passed a resolution for a separate state, which was sent to the Centre, she said, "Since the beginning, our party has been of the view that the western region should be made a separate state for better development of the region. "We had got a resolution passed by the state assembly and sent to the central government but they did not act on it. When our party comes to power at the Centre, your western UP will be made a separate state," she said.
