Setting a robust tone for FY 2025–26, MOIL Limited, India’s largest manganese ore producer, has reported its highest-ever May performance, reflecting strong operational efficiency and resource expansion efforts.

In May 2025, MOIL produced 1.71 lakh tonnes of manganese ore, registering an 18% year-on-year growth over May 2024, when the production stood at 1,45,012 tonnes. This marks not only the highest-ever production for the month of May but also the fourth-highest monthly production in the company’s history, underscoring MOIL’s operational resilience and productivity.

Simultaneously, MOIL achieved a milestone in exploratory core drilling, clocking 13,352 metres, a 17.5% increase compared to 11,357 metres in May 2024. This reinforces MOIL’s strategic focus on strengthening future ore availability and expanding its geological footprint.

Chairman and Managing Director Ajit Kumar Saxena lauded the workforce for this exceptional performance, stating, “Our mines are the backbone of MOIL’s success. With this performance, we have shown that disciplined operations and efficient practices can consistently break barriers.”

MOIL, a Mini Ratna state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, contributes over 45% of India’s manganese ore production. The ore is a key raw material for steelmaking, particularly in ferroalloy production. With a focus on modernization, automation, and resource augmentation, the company aims to double its production in the coming years to meet the growing demand from the steel and battery industries.
