Mid-Monsoon: Rainfall Deficit at 13%, Kharif Sowing Gap Narrows to 3%, Low Reservoir Storage Remains a Concern
Revival of the southwest monsoon in July has sharply reduced India's rainfall deficit and accelerated kharif sowing, narrowing the acreage gap with last year to just 2.88 per cent. However, uneven rainfall, lower pulse and maize acreage, and below-normal reservoir storage continue to pose risks for kharif yields and water availability for the upcoming rabi season.
