Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme from Bhagalpur, Bihar. Through DBT, more than Rs 22,000 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of over 9.8 crore farmers across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday released the 19th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Bhagalpur, Bihar. Under this, more than Rs 22,000 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of over 9.80 crore farmers through DBT.
Addressing a public meeting in Bhagalpur, PM Modi said, "If there was no NDA government at the Centre, my farmer brothers and sisters across the country, including Bihar, would not have received the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. In the last 6 years, every single penny of this has reached directly into the accounts of our farmers." The initiative to establish the Makhana Board will be highly beneficial for Bihar's farmers involved in its cultivation. It will significantly support the production, processing, value addition, and marketing of Makhana, he said.
PM Modi also inaugurated several development projects in Bihar. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Bhagalpur. Several Union ministers, MPs, MLAs, and officials from the state and central ministries were also present on the occasion.
6 years of PM-KISAN
Earlier, while congratulating farmers on the completion of six years of the PM-KISAN scheme, PM Modi tweeted that so far, about Rs 3.5 lakh crore has been transferred to farmers' accounts. "This effort of ours is providing respect, prosperity, and new strength to our food providers," he stated. The Prime Minister also emphasized that in the last 10 years, due to government efforts, the agriculture sector in the country has developed rapidly.
Under the PM-Kisan scheme, launched before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, more than Rs 3.67 lakh crore has been transferred to the accounts of over 11 crore farmers. Under this scheme, farmers receive three installments of Rs 2,000 each, totalling Rs 6,000 per year, directly in their bank accounts.
Target of 10,000 FPOs achieved
Today, the Modi government's target of creating 10 thousand FPOs has also been achieved. PM Modi said that today the land of Bihar is witnessing the creation of the 10 thousandth FPO. This FPO working on maize, banana and paddy has been registered in Khagaria district. Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) is being promoted as a movement to empower the small and marginal farmers of the country.
Agriculture Minister Meets Makhana Farmers
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrived in Bihar on Sunday. He visited the Makhana Research Center in Darbhanga to discuss the establishment of the Makhana Board, as announced in the budget. During his visit, he stepped into a pond to plant Makhana and interacted with Makhana-producing farmers. Chouhan emphasized that the Makhana Board in Bihar will be established based on inputs from farmers. "We are engaging directly with Makhana farmers, understanding their concerns and suggestions," he said.
Pappu Yadav Calls for Bandh
Meanwhile, alleging step-motherly treatment of Bihar’s Seemanchal-Kosi region, independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, called for a bandh in the Purnia Lok Sabha constituency and nearby areas on Monday. Yadav is demanding the establishment of a Makhana Board in Purnia. He warned that if necessary, he would block rail traffic between Delhi, Purnia, and Katihar.
