PM Modi takes oath with 71 ministers, including NDA allies

The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken oath for the third time. Modi is the first leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to become Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. He has become an MP from Varanasi for the third time. Those who took oath with him include 30 cabinet ministers, 5 ministers of state (independent charge) and 36 ministers of state. A total of 72 ministers took oath, including 27 OBCs and five minorities

The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken oath for the third time. Modi is the first leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to become Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. He has become an MP from Varanasi for the third time. Those who took oath with him include 30 cabinet ministers, 5 ministers of state (independent charge) and 36 ministers of state. A total of 72 ministers took oath, including 27 OBCs and five minorities. New faces as Union ministers include BJP president JP Nadda, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and RLD national president Jayant Chaudhary. Many first-time MPs have also been made ministers.

After Modi, BJP MP from Lucknow Rajnath Singh took oath as Cabinet Minister. He was the Defence Minister in the previous government. At number three, MP from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Amit Shah took oath as Cabinet Minister. He was the Home Minister and Cooperative Minister in the previous government. After him, MP from Nagpur, Nitin Gadkari took oath. He was the Minister of Road Transport and Highways in the previous government.

At number five, Jagat Prakash Nadda took oath as a cabinet minister. He has been the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2019. He was also a minister in the 2014 Modi government. After him, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and MP from Vidisha, Shivraj Singh Chauhan took oath. In this election, he won by a margin of more than 8 lakh votes. He has been the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh four times.

After him, Nirmala Sitharaman took oath. She is a Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka. She was the Finance Minister in the previous government. She was also the Defence Minister during the years 2017 to 2019. Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, S. Jaishankar also took oath. He was the Foreign Minister in the previous government. He is a 1977 batch IFS.

After him, Haryana's Karnal MP and former Chief Minister of the state Manohar Lal Khattar took oath. After him, JDS MP from Mandya, Karnataka and son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, HD Kumaraswamy took oath. He has also been the Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Piyush Goyal, who was elected MP from North Mumbai, also took oath as a cabinet minister. He was the Commerce and Industry Minister in the previous government. After him, Dharmendra Pradhan, MP from Sambalpur, Odisha, took oath as a minister. He was the Petroleum Minister in the previous government. After BJP's victory in the Odisha Assembly elections, it was believed that he could be made the Chief Minister of the state.

After him, former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and Munger MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh took oath. Lalan Singh has become a minister in the central government for the first time.

After him, those who took oath included former Assam Chief Minister and MP from Dibrugarh, Sarbananda Sonowal and MP from Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Virendra Kumar. Then 36-year-old Ram Mohan Naidu, TDP MP from Srikakulam, took oath. He is the youngest minister in the new Modi government.

After him, BJP MP from Dharwad, Karnataka, Pralhad Joshi took oath. He has been a Member of Parliament since 2004. He was the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in the previous government. MP from Sundargarh, Odisha, Jual Oram also took oath. He is a six-time Lok Sabha MP. He was the Minister of Tribal Welfare in the first Modi government.

Giriraj Singh, MP from Begusarai, Bihar and a minister in the previous government, has also been made a minister this time. He has become an MP for the third time. BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Odisha, Ashwini Vaishnav, has become a minister for the second time. He was the IT and Railway Minister in the previous government.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, five-time MP from Guna in Madhya Pradesh, has also been made a minister. He was earlier in the Congress party and was a minister in both the tenures of the UPA. He was the Aviation Minister in the previous government. BJP MP Bhupender Yadav from Alwar in Rajasthan has also been made a minister. He has also been a Rajya Sabha MP twice. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, MP from Jodhpur in Rajasthan, also took oath as a minister. He was the Jal Shakti Minister in the previous government.

Annapurna Devi, BJP MP from Koderma, Jharkhand has been made a Union Minister for the second time. After her, Kiren Rijiju, MP from Arunachal West, took oath. He has become an MP for the fourth time. He has previously been a minister in both the tenures of the Modi government.

Those who took oath after him include Rajya Sabha MP and Urban Development Minister in the previous government Hardeep Singh Puri, MP from Porbandar in Gujarat and Health Minister in the previous government Mansukh Mandaviya, MP from Secunderabad in Telangana G Kishan Reddy, Lok Janshakti Party (RV) MP from Hajipur in Bihar, Chirag Paswan, MP from Navsari in Gujarat and state BJP president CR Patel.

Five state ministers with independent charge took oath

Those who took oath as Minister of State (Independent Charge) included BJP MP from Gurgaon, Rao Inderjit Singh, BJP MP from Udhampur, Dr. Jitendra Singh, BJP MP from Bikaner Arjun Ram Meghwal, Shiv Sena Shinde faction MP from Buldhana seat of Maharashtra, Prataprao Jadhav, RLD national president and Ajit Singh's son Jayant Chaudhary.
