Haryana Offers Up to Rs. 1.4 Lakh per Acre Subsidy for New Fruit Orchards

The Haryana government has introduced a subsidy scheme to promote horticulture in the state and increase farmers’ incomes by encouraging the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices and aromatic plants.

Under the scheme, farmers will receive financial assistance ranging from Rs. 24,500 to Rs. 1.4 lakh per acre for establishing new fruit orchards, while subsidies have also been prescribed for vegetable, spice, flower and aromatic plant cultivation.

According to a spokesperson of the Haryana Horticulture Department, farmers can avail themselves of the scheme for up to five acres for new fruit orchards and spice cultivation. For vegetable cultivation, the maximum eligible area has been fixed at five acres for farmers belonging to the general category and one acre for Scheduled Caste farmers. The limit for flower and aromatic plant cultivation is five acres.

Subsidy for Fruits, Vegetables and Spices

The subsidy for establishing new fruit orchards ranges from Rs. 24,500 to Rs. 1.4 lakh per acre, depending on the crop and applicable component of the scheme.

For vegetable cultivation, general-category farmers will receive Rs. 15,000 per acre, while Scheduled Caste farmers will be eligible for Rs. 25,500 per acre.

However, the vegetable subsidy will be available only when farmers adopt integrated cultivation models involving practices such as mulching, low tunnels, drip irrigation or bamboo staking.

For spice cultivation, the subsidy ranges from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 30,000 per acre.

Farmers growing flowers will be eligible for assistance ranging from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 40,000 per acre, while cultivation of aromatic plants will attract a subsidy of Rs. 8,000 per acre.

Direct Transfer to Farmers’ Bank Accounts

The government has said that the subsidy amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiary farmers to ensure transparency in implementation.

To avail themselves of the scheme, farmers must be registered on the ‘Meri Fasal-Mera Byora’ portal as well as Hortnet.

Applicants will also be required to provide personal details, Family ID, complete bank account information, including account number, bank and branch details and IFSC code. Scheduled Caste applicants will also have to submit a valid caste certificate where applicable.
