India Needs to Manufacture Products That Appeal to the World: Anita Praveen
While inaugurating the 16th edition of ‘Annapoorna Inter Food’ and 15th edition of ‘FICCI FOODWORLD India 2024’ on 5th June 2024, Ms Praveen said that the Indian Food Processing industry is known as the second biggest employer in the country after textile and this sector is the basis on which the farmers production happens.
Time has now come to look at the international taste buds and start manufacturing the products that appeal to everyone in the world, said Anita Praveen, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
While inaugurating the 16th edition of ‘Annapoorna Inter Food’ and 15th edition of ‘FICCI FOODWORLD India 2024’ on 5th June 2024, Ms Praveen said that the Indian Food Processing industry is known as the second biggest employer in the country after textile and this sector is the basis on which the farmers production happens. The food processing sector is an important sector of the economy, and we need to focus on serving the large population of India.
“We are a huge market, and we are witnessing numerous trade negotiations because the world recognizes that consumers are in India. These negotiations indicate the growing importance of the Indian Food Processing sector on a global scale,” she added.
Emphasizing the need for the industry to expand the international markets, Ms Praveen stated that our target should be to ensure that processed food should remain as the ‘quality food’ for all. “Time has now come to look at the international taste buds and start manufacturing the products that appeal to everyone in the world,” she highlighted.
The three-day 16th International Food & Beverage Expo - ‘Annapoorna Inter Food’, concluded on Friday at Yashobhoomi (IICC), Dwarka, New Delhi. Annapoorna Inter Food & Beverage Expo, organized by FICCI and VA Exhibitions supported by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and DPIIT, is a trade fair where various food and beverage manufacturing companies gather to showcase their products. Annapoorna Inter Food is organized for food retailers, traders, hotels, restaurants, and other food-related businesses to explore new offerings, network, and learn about industry trends.
An exhibition on food can encompass a broad range of topics, including presentations, workshops, and demonstrations by chefs, nutritionists, and food experts. This important food products exhibition specifically also focuses on showcasing food items that are sourced from different countries and regions apart from Indian food & beverage manufacturers. Annapoorna Inter Food exhibition allows attendees to discover a diverse range of products, taste unique flavors, and learn about the global food market.
The three-day food and beverage expo saw active participation of over 150 exhibitors from India and abroad. Over 10000 visitors visited the expo to explore new and upcoming technology and various products in the food processing sector. ‘Annapoorna Retail Awards’ was organized on Day 1 in which companies, restaurants and retailers were awarded. The Expo culminated with over 5000 B2B meetings.
