Dr Himanshu Pathak appointed Secretary, DARE-cum-DG, ICAR
Senior agriculture scientist Dr Himanshu Pathak has been appointed as Secretary, DARE-cum-DG, ICAR. He is currently serving as Director, ICAR-NIASM, Baramati, Maharashtra.
Senior agriculture scientist Dr Himanshu Pathak has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE)-cum-Director General (DG), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). According to the order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment. Dr Pathak is currently serving as Director, ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management (NIASM), Baramati, Maharashtra.
Earlier Dr Pathak was the Director, ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), Cuttack. He worked as a Scientist at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi from 1992 to 2001 and Senior Scientist from 2001 to 2006. He was Principal Scientist at IARI from 2009 to 2016 and Professor, Discipline of Environmental Sciences from 2013 to 2016.
The Ministry of Personnel order says that Dr Pathak has been appointed Secretary, DARE-cum-DG, ICAR with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post till attaining the age of 60 years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. he will replace Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, the current Secretary, DARE-cum-DG, ICAR.
ICAR is an autonomous organization under the DARE, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. It is the apex body for co-ordinating, guiding and managing research and education in agriculture including horticulture, fisheries and animal sciences in the entire country.
