Sugar output till November 30, 2022, in the current 2022-23 Sugar Season was 47.9 lac tons, against 47.2 lac tons produced during the corresponding period last year.
According to the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), the number of operating factories were also higher at 434 against 416 which operated last year on the corresponding date.
On the ethanol front, the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have so far allocated around 460 crore litres for supply in Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2022-23 against first two Expressions of interest (EOIs) floated by them.
The OMCs have floated a third EOI for requirement of additional 139 crore litres, for which the last date of submission was November 30, 2022.
The OMCs are currently examining the bids and are expected to do the allocations shortly, the ISMA said in a press release.
