Uttar Pradesh to Lead India's Largest Bioenergy Expo as UPNEDA and IFGE Join Hands for IBET Expo 2026
Uttar Pradesh is set to host India's largest bioenergy event as UPNEDA, in partnership with the Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE), gears up to organise IBET Expo 2026 in Greater Noida from August 11–13.

Uttar Pradesh is set to take centre stage in India's bioenergy transition as the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) will lead the third edition of the India Bioenergy & Tech Expo (IBET Expo 2026), scheduled to be held from August 11 to 13 at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida. The event is being organised in partnership with the Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE).
The announcement was reinforced during a stakeholders' meeting held in Lucknow under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Energy and Additional Energy Minister A. K. Sharma. Senior state government officials, bioenergy companies operating in Uttar Pradesh and prospective investors participated in the meeting to review preparations for the international conference and exhibition. The minister urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to making the event a success.
The Government of Uttar Pradesh, through UPNEDA, is serving as the co-host of the event, while IFGE is the knowledge and execution partner. The expo is supported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the Ministry of Power and the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has consented to inaugurate the event in the presence of Energy Minister A. K. Sharma. The organisers are also expecting participation from Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, and New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi, along with senior policymakers and industry leaders.
The three-day event will feature an international conference themed "Advancing Bioenergy Solutions for a Low Carbon World" alongside a large-scale exhibition covering compressed biogas (CBG), ethanol, biodiesel, waste-to-energy, bio-mobility, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), marine fuels, green hydrogen, biomass pellets and briquettes, carbon markets and other emerging bioenergy technologies.
Officials from key government departments and institutions, including the Ministries of Power, Petroleum and Natural Gas, New and Renewable Energy, the Department of Biotechnology, NITI Aayog, the Central Electricity Authority, the Commission for Air Quality Management and the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), are expected to address the conference.
IBET Expo 2026 is expected to host more than 25 conference sessions, over 120 national and international speakers, 150 exhibitors, 1,000 delegates and around 15,000 business visitors from across the bioenergy value chain.
Several leading companies, including Praj Industries, Reliance Bioenergy, Ashok Leyland, Gas Lab Asia, TruAlt Bioenergy, Novonesis, TVS, Gruner, AM Green, Hero MotoCorp, IndianOil, Adani Ventures and GAIL, have extended support to the event. Knowledge partners include GIZ, EY, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Taso Events and ChiniMandi.
The organisers said the event aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a leading destination for investment, innovation and policy dialogue in the bioenergy sector. It is expected to promote collaboration among government, industry and research institutions while supporting India's goals of strengthening energy security, accelerating decarbonisation and advancing towards net-zero emissions.
