Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday launched IFFCO's nano (liquid) DAP fertiliser for commercial sale at Rs 600 per 500 ml bottle. It costs less than half of the current price of conventional DAP and will help India cut its import dependence. One 50 kg bag of conventional DAP (di-ammonium phosphate) is currently being sold to farmers at Rs 1,350.
A bottle (500 ml) of nano liquid DAP, the world's first, will be equivalent to one bag (50kg) of conventional DAP. Shah urged farmers to use nano (liquid) DAP fertiliser as it will increase farm productivity without impacting soil health. He expressed the hope that use of nano-liquid DAP will help India become self-reliant in fertiliser production. While subsidies are provided on conventional DAP, the government will not give any such relief on nano DAP.
The world’s first Nano DAP Liquid Fertiliser by IFFCO was introduced by Shah at IFFCO Sadan in an effort to provide farmers the means to boost productivity and help increase their income - marking a giant step towards realising PM’s dream of 'Sahkar Se Samriddhi & Atmanirbhar Bharat'.

IFFCO has set up manufacturing facilities for production of Nano DAP Fertilisers at Kalol, Kandla, in Gujarat and Paradip in Odisha.  An IFFCO release said that production at Kalol Plant has already started and this year 5 crore bottles of Nano DAP Liquid equivalent 25 lakh ton of DAP will be produced. It is expected that by FY 2025-26, 18 crore bottles of Nano DAP will be produced through IFFCO’s three Nano DAP plants.
Nano DAP Liquid is an efficient source of Nitrogen and Phosphorus and helps in overcoming these deficiencies in plant.
The Nano Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) liquid fertiliser developed by the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO), the country's largest fertiliser cooperative, has been notified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the Fertiliser Control Order on March 2, 2023 and a gazette notification was issued allowing IFFCO to produce Nano DAP liquid in India. It is biologically safe and eco-friendly, fit for residue-free green farming.
Speaking on the occasion Amit Shah said, “Successful co-operative societies coming out of their framework for research and foraying into new fields have made it a source of inspiration for all co-operative societies today. IFFCO’s product launch of Nano DAP (Liquid) is a significant beginning to make India self-reliant in the field of Fertiliser. As the health of crores of Indians is being threatened due to chemical fertiliser laden land today, IFFCO Nano DAP (Liquid) will increase both the quality and quantity of production and also of life and make a huge contribution in increasing farmer’s income and land conservation.
“The total fertiliser production in the country has been 384 lakh metric tonnes. In this, cooperative societies have produced 132 lakh metric tonnes. Out of 132 lakh metric tonnes of fertilisers, IFFCO alone has produced 90 lakh metric tonnes of fertilisers. Our cooperative societies like IFFCO, KRIBHCO have a huge contribution in India's self-reliance,” he said.
IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani said, “Nano DAP Liquid has been made in line with the PM Modi’s vision of Sahkar se Samriddhi and Atmanirbhar Bharat with the aim of increasing farmer’s income and providing them with a better future.”
IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi said, “Nano DAP liquid has been found to be very effective in enhancing the nutritional quality & productivity of crop and has a huge positive impact on the environment thus resulting in significant reduction in Global Warming.”
He informed that IFFCO has been continuously working on highly innovative new-age farming technologies and practices for the betterment of the farmers.
