BJP's policies have made agriculture loss-making: BS Hooda

Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that BJP's policies have made agriculture a loss-making deal for farmers and this is why the Congress is preparing a draft to make agriculture a profitable business and improve the condition of the farmers.

Hooda, who is the head of the group constituted for the subjects of 'Farmers and Agriculture' for the 85th Plenary Session of the All India Congress Committee to be held in Raipur from February 24 to 26, took a meeting of this group in the Congress War Room on Friday.

During the meeting, suggestions were sought from all the members on the draft to be presented at the session and these were discussed in detail. Earlier, many suggestions were given in the draft presented by the committee formed under the leadership of Hooda in the Nava Sankalp camp of the Congress held in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

This included proposals like guaranteeing MSP to farmers, determining MSP under the C2 formula, liberating farmers from debt and giving banking concessions to agriculture like industry.

A detailed discussion was held with all the farmer leaders and agriculture experts to prepare the draft.

Answering questions from journalists in Chandigarh after Friday’s meeting, Hooda also discussed the budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha. He said Congress is fully prepared to raise issues related to the public in the House.

Replies will be sought from the government on them and a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party will be held once again on February 19, ahead of the session, to discuss issues in detail.

Hooda said the recovery of burnt bodies of two people in Loharu in Bhiwani was a very serious issue.

He said this incident has once again made it clear that there is no such thing as law and order in the state, and demanded that the government should take cognisance of the matter and conduct a fair investigation and take prompt action.
