Odisha Makes History with Triple Mango Export to England and Dubai in a Single Day

Odisha has marked a significant milestone in its agricultural export journey by dispatching three international consignments of mangoes to London, Birmingham, and Dubai in a single day - an unprecedented feat that highlights the growing capabilities of the state’s Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) and the crucial role of market facilitator Palladium.

First-Ever Mango Export from Balangir
In a historic first for Balangir district, 2 metric tonnes (MT) of mangoes were exported to London. The milestone was made possible by targeted capacity-building efforts, including a training session earlier this month in Patnagarh organized by Palladium. The session equipped farmers and FPOs with skills essential for international market readiness, quality compliance, and export procedures.

Mango Festival in Sambalpur Celebrates Dual Export
In Sambalpur, the Mango Festival took center stage as 3.5 MT of premium mangoes were flagged off to England and Dubai by Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. Attending the ceremony were officials from NABARD, the Department of Horticulture, the district administration, and Palladium India.

“This is not just the export of mangoes; it is the export of our farmers’ hard work, dedication, and dreams,” said Shri Pradhan. “Odisha is fast emerging as a trusted supplier of high-quality agricultural products, connecting farmers, especially women, to global markets for sustainable prosperity.”

Palladium and NABARD Lead Export-Readiness Drive
Following the exports, an Export Sensitization Workshop was organized by NABARD and Palladium India at the Horticulture Training Institute, Sambalpur, to further prepare local FPOs for global trade. The workshop featured technical sessions on international market requirements, post-harvest management, and export certification standards.

The Regional Director (East) of APEDA emphasized the goal of facilitating direct exports by FPOs and highlighted the importance of extensive farmer training. NABARD’s Chief General Manager called for Odisha to scale up mango exports to match other leading states and commended the district-level initiative that brought critical insights directly to farmers.

A detailed presentation by Palladium India outlined Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for post-harvest handling, grading, hot water treatment, traceability, and export packaging. Live demonstrations gave FPOs hands-on exposure to export-ready processes, while an interactive Q&A session allowed them to directly engage with technical experts.

With growing momentum and coordinated action, Odisha is rapidly positioning itself as a rising player in global agricultural trade - bringing its farmers closer to international opportunities and long-term rural prosperity.
