Centre Hikes Commission for Arthiyas, Cooperatives on Wheat-Paddy Procurement from RMS 2026-27
The Centre has increased commission rates for Arthiyas and cooperative societies involved in wheat and paddy procurement from RMS 2026-27. Rates have been revised upward across states and commodities following recommendations by a government panel, aiming to improve procurement efficiency and support intermediaries managing aggregation and procurement operations.
The Government of India has approved a revision in commission rates for Arthiyas and cooperative societies involved in procurement of wheat and paddy on its behalf, effective from the Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2026-27.
Under the procurement system, Arthiyas, cooperatives, societies and sub-agents play a key role in aggregation and intermediary services. Responding to demands from several state governments, a sub-committee comprising representatives from FCI, states and the Department of Food and Public Distribution reviewed existing rates and recommended an increase.
Following the revision, commission for Arthiyas procuring wheat in Punjab and Haryana has been raised from Rs 46 to Rs 50.75 per quintal, while in Rajasthan it has increased from Rs 41.40 to Rs 45.67 per quintal. For paddy, the commission has been enhanced from Rs 45.88 to Rs 50.61 per quintal.
Commission payable to cooperative societies has also been increased. For wheat, it will rise from Rs 27 to Rs 29.79 per quintal, and for paddy from Rs 32 to Rs 35.30 per quintal.
In case of procurement at modern silos, commission will remain at 50% of mandi rates, as per existing policy.
The move aims to strengthen the procurement system and ensure smooth operations by supporting agencies involved in government procurement.
