Ceasefire Breached: Pakistani Drones Invade Indian Airspace, Explosions Rock Border Hours After Truce

In a dramatic escalation of tensions mere hours after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire agreement, multiple Pakistani drones were spotted entering Indian airspace on Saturday evening, triggering air raid sirens, blackouts, and a wave of panic in border states.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the ceasefire violation by Pakistan during a press conference around 11 PM. He stated that the army has been instructed to respond appropriately.

Loud explosions were reported in Srinagar, where residents were jolted by a series of blasts. Simultaneously, air raid sirens wailed across Udhampur and adjoining regions in Jammu, signaling a serious breach of the fragile truce.

Authorities in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat swiftly implemented precautionary blackouts in response to what appears to be another deliberate drone intrusion by Pakistan.

What heightens the gravity of this latest violation is its timing. Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan had formally proposed a comprehensive ceasefire covering land, air, and sea - a proposal welcomed by India and confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs. Yet, within hours of that announcement, the truce appeared to unravel.

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah voiced the nation’s frustration on social media, tweeting: “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!”

In Gujarat, Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi confirmed that several drones were spotted over the Kutch district, prompting authorities to enforce a full blackout. “Several drones have been spotted in the Kutch district. A complete blackout will be implemented now. Please stay safe. Don’t panic,” Sanghavi posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, similar alerts were issued in Punjab. Drones were detected in Amritsar and Ferozepur. The DC of Amritsar issued a public statement advising citizens to stay indoors: “Dear citizens, since there are reports of ceasefire violations, we will remain on alert today. We will observe blackout if and when needed. Please do not indulge in bursting firecrackers. This is by way of abundant caution.”
