PDRL drone technology gets patent for new corridor survey method
PDRL has secured a patent for its innovative corridor survey method, enhancing accuracy and efficiency in drone-based land surveys. This method supports growing demand in India's drone survey market, valued at Rs 800 crore, and is widely adopted in infrastructure and government projects
Passenger Drone Research Ltd (PDRL) has announced a major achievement with the approval of a patent for its new corridor survey method. This innovation highlights PDRL’s commitment to offering precise and efficient drone-based surveying solutions, meeting the growing demand for drone use in land surveys.
According to the press release from PDRL, last year, the Indian drone survey market grew by about 40 percent, reaching a value of around Rs 800 crore. This growth reflects increased demand for drone technology in infrastructure projects and government initiatives like Swamitva (for rural land mapping) and DILRMP. The private sector, especially in real estate, telecom, and agriculture, also embraced drone surveys, making up 60 percent of all applications. Currently, about 70 percent of infrastructure projects in India, such as highways, railways, smart cities, and mining, are using drone surveys for safer, faster data collection.
PDRL’s patented corridor survey method is specifically designed for narrow, linear infrastructure like roads, railways, and pipelines. This approach allows for more accurate data collection, enabling faster insights and better decision-making.
Commenting on this achievement, PDRL’s CEO, Mr. Anil Chandaliya, expressed excitement about the innovation, noting that the patent supports "Made in India" products and advances drone technology. This patent solidifies PDRL’s position as a leader in drone innovation, setting new standards for aerial surveying and paving the way for advancements in infrastructure mapping.
