The central government has extended the deadline for crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for Kisan Credit Card (KCC) holder farmers. Farmers can now insure their crops until August 25, 2024. The original deadline of August 16 was pushed back due to a significant number of farmers being unable to complete their registration on time.
Details of this extension were shared on the official social media platform of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The government has decided to provide farmers with extra time to insure their Kharif crops, ensuring better protection against potential risks. In an official statement, the government urged farmers to take advantage of this opportunity and insure their crops by the new deadline.
Additionally, the registration deadline has been extended for six states—Tripura, Assam, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry—where farmers now have until August 31, 2024, to register under the scheme. The previous deadline for these states was also August 16. This extension aims to provide relief to farmers who were unable to complete the process on time.
