NCCF Initiates Organised Procurement of Masoor in Bihar for the First Time

National Consumer Cooperative Federation of India has launched organised masoor procurement in Bihar for the first time, targeting 32,000 MT under MSP. Supported by scientific storage, the move boosts pulse self-reliance. Meanwhile, procurement operations in Chhattisgarh have expanded significantly under PM-AASHA with rising farmer participation.

NCCF Initiates Organised Procurement of Masoor in Bihar for the First Time

In a major development, National Consumer Cooperative Federation of India Ltd. (NCCF)  has initiated organised procurement of masoor (lentil) in Bihar for the first time, marking a key step towards self-reliance in pulse production. The initiative is supported by scientific storage through WDRA-approved warehouses operated in collaboration with the Central Warehousing Corporation.

A procurement target of 32,000 MT of masoor has been fixed for the state. As of 22 April 2026, 16 PACS/FPOs were registered and 59 farmers onboarded for procurement. So far 100.4 MT of masoor has been procured. NAFED is also preparing to scale operations under the Price Support Scheme through its cooperative network across the state. Procurement will last till 31st May 2026.

Chhattisgarh: Expanded MSP Procurement Operations

In Chhattisgarh, procurement under PM-AASHA has gained momentum with digitised farmer participation through the E-Samyukti portal and extensive awareness campaigns. A network of 85 PACS centres is currently operational, with procurement underway in districts such as Dhamtari, Durg, Balod, Balodabazar, Raipur, Raigarh, and Sarangarh. Operations are set to expand to Sarguja, Kondagaon, and Koriya.

A procurement target of 63,325 MT of Chana and 5,360 MT of Masoor has been fixed for Chhattisgarh. As of 22 April 2026, NCCF has procured 9,032 MT of chana and 7.98 MT of Masoor. Some 3,850 MT of chana and 109 MT of masoor have also been procured through NAFED.
