Tractor sales increased marginally by three percent in October

In October, tractor sales in India increased slightly by 3 percent compared to the same month last year. A total of 64,433 tractors were sold in October 2024, up from 62,507 in October 2023. However, this growth fell short of industry expectations, as companies had anticipated higher sales due to the festive season. 

According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (Mahindra Tractors) saw a 4.3 percent growth, selling 14,792 tractors in October, up from 14,178 units sold last year. Mahindra's Swaraj division also saw a boost, with a 5.5 percent increase to 11,227 tractors, compared to 11,065 tractors sold last October.

Other brands also saw increases. Sonalika Tractors recorded a 3.5 percent rise, selling 7,983 units in October compared to 7,713 units sold last year. John Deere had the most significant growth, with a 29.09 percent increase, selling 5,884 tractors compared to 4,558 units in October last year. CNH Industrial (India) also saw growth, with sales up by 4.6 percent, totaling 2,596 tractors compared to 2,481 units last year. TAFE Limited had a marginal increase, with sales rising to 8,767 units from 8,684 in October 2023.

In contrast, Eicher Tractors and Escorts Kubota experienced declines in October sales. Eicher Tractors sold 3,691 tractors in October, a 13.5 percent drop from 4,268 tractors sold last year. Similarly, Escorts Kubota’s sales fell by 3.57 percent, with 6,043 tractors sold compared to 6,267 in the previous October.
