IFFCO bags patents for Nano Urea and Nano DAP

In a historic moment for India, the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), the world’s No. 1 processed fertilizer cooperative, received on July 1 the patents for IFFCO Nano Urea and IFFCO Nano DAP, its revolutionary nanotechnology-based fertilizers.
The Patent Office of the Government of India has awarded the patents for 20 years. A true novel example of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Atmanirbhar Krishi, this is a giant leap forward in the realization of Sahkar se Samriddhi (Prosperity Through Cooperation).
IFFCO’s MD Dr US Awasthi tweeted to inform the world of this development, “This intellectual property of #IFFCO #NanoUrea #NanoDAP will strengthen Indian economy by reducing input cost to agriculture, double the income of farmers in line with the dream & inspiration of PM Sh. @narendramodi ji.”
IFFCO Nano Urea and IFFCO Nano DAP are next-generation fertilizers benefiting farmers and the environment. These novel products will be instrumental in reducing soil, air and water pollution. They are required in less quantities to produce quality crops and at the same time also keep the soil healthy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world’s first Nano Urea Liquid plant by IFFCO at Kalol, Gujarat, on May 28. He had said on the occasion that the power of one bag of urea would now be available to farmers in a half-litre bottle of urea. This would reduce transportation costs and benefit small farmers.
IFFCO has set up additional manufacturing facilities for the production of nano-fertilizers at Aonla, Phulpur, Kalol (expansion), Bengaluru, Paradeep, Kandla, Deoghar and Guwahati units for the production of Nano Urea, Nano DAP and nano micronutrients at different locations.
It was last year that IFFCO introduced the world’s first IFFCO Nano Urea (Liquid), which is included in the Fertiliser Control Order (FCO, 1985). It was indigenously developed through a proprietary technology at IFFCO’s Nano Biotechnology Research Centre (NBRC) at Kalol.
