4.70 lakh tonnes of sugar exported till April in the current season
According to AISTA, against the permission of export of 10 lakh tonnes of sugar given for the current season, about eight lakh tonnes of sugar is expected to be exported by September 2025

The Central Government has allowed the export of 10 lakh tonnes of sugar in the current sugar season (2024-25). Out of that, 4.70 lakh tonnes of sugar has been exported till April 30, 2025. This information has been given in a release issued by the All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA). Sugar exports include white sugar, raw sugar and refined sugar. According to AISTA, against the permission of export of 10 lakh tonnes of sugar given for the current season, about eight lakh tonnes of sugar is expected to be exported by September 2025.
In the exports made so far, 3,27,972 tonnes of white sugar, 77,603 tonnes of refined sugar, 18514 tonnes of raw sugar have been exported. Apart from this, 21003 tonnes of raw sugar has been supplied to Deemed to Export SEZ and 25,002 tonnes of sugar is yet to be ship loaded.
Of the sugar exported, the highest 21 percent has been exported to Somalia. Apart from this, sugar has been exported to a dozen countries including Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Dijibouti, UAE, Nepal, Bangladesh, Libya, Tanzania and Singapore.
AISTA says that sugar exports are estimated to be around eight lakh tonnes in the current season. Along with this, it has been said that the government has increased the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for the upcoming season (2025-26). In such a situation, the government should also increase the minimum selling price (MSP) of sugar and the price of ethanol.
