Farmers to write letter to PM for MSP law; “MSP in every village, MSP for every home” to be slogan

A discussion was held on Saturday in the core committee of the farmers who have gathered in Delhi with regard to the demand for the MSP guarantee law for procurement of farmers’ crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP). The future programme was also declared alongwith. It was decided in the session to write a letter to the Prime Minister (PM) from every village. The farmer organizations have coined a new slogan — “MSP in every village, MSP for every home”.

On the last day of the session on Saturday, Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan (RKMS) Convener VM Singh said that the fight for MSP had been started from the Punjab Khod village and would be taken to every village. He said that the MSP Guarantee Kisan Morcha got support in this session from 220 farmer organizations from 27 provinces.

He said that support would be gathered by campaigning from village to village so that every farmer family became a participant in this campaign. The advantages of MSP will be conveyed to every family in a village through wall painting, Prabhat Pheris (morning walks), banners and posters. The village committees will try to create an environment for MSP in their respective ways with the primary aim and slogan of “MSP in every village, MSP for every home”.

It was decided in the session that a proposal from the Gram Sabha or a letter from the Pradhan or on behalf of the villagers would be written to the Prime Minister, for which a duration of two-and-a-half months has been fixed. Subsequently, these letters will be sent to the PM at continuous intervals through the District Magistrates (DMs) from January 1 of the new year. On New Year’s Day, the campaign “MSP in every village, MSP for every home” will start on Twitter. Lakhs of copies of the letters sent through the DMs will be delivered to the PM on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day on 23 March 2023.

It was also decided that provincial assemblies would be held from November onwards. The first assembly will be held in Punjab on December 10. Every provincial MSP assembly will be held only in villages. The entire core committee, which included Raju Shetty, ‘Waterman’ Rajendra Singh, Rampal Jat, Balraj Bhati, K Chandrasekhar, Jaskaran Singh and Chhotelal Srivastava, was present on this occasion.
